2020 - 2021 Striving for Best Practices Award
The Greater Oakland Charter Chapter received a 2020-2021 Striving for Best Practices award at the 2021 National Women's Leadership Conference (NWLC). Greater Oakland has received this award annually since 2012. The award is given to chapters who meet specific criteria that demonstrate best practices in the management of their chapter throughout the prior year. Chapter members in attendance at the conference accept the award "on the big stage." In 2020 and 2021, the award was presented and received virtually.

Chapter and National Recognition
The Greater Oakland Charter Chapter members nominate outstanding chapter members for the Woman of the Year, Top Ten honors and Protégé Award. The Woman of the Year is a local award based on the contributions a member has made to the chapter in the previous calendar year. The Woman of the Year is selected annually in February.
Top Ten is an ABWA National award, with chapters across the United States nominating a member based on her career, education, involvement in ABWA, and contributions to her community. Final Top Ten Business Women are chosen by a panel of three businesswomen outside of ABWA.
At the NWLC, a three-person panel of ABWA members interviews the Top Ten and chooses one woman to be recognized as The American Business Woman - ABWA's highest honor. Current Top Ten's and the 2024 American Business Woman of ABWA can be seen at https://www.abwa.org/about-us/.

Protégé Awards are given to new members based on member participation since joining, and presented by the Chapter's Executive Board at the August chapter meeting.
